AP Biology
This course is designed for students that are interested in pursuing a college-level study in biology while still in high school. This is a rigorous course and should only be taken by serious students that have the time, energy, and desire to learn that this class requires. This class must be a priority. There is a tremendous amount of reading and study time required for this course, and a time strapped student may struggle with this class. A MINIMUM of 30 minutes daily study time outside of school is required to succeed in this class. Students are expected to be responsible, self-directed, and motivated. If you are not willing or able to put in time every day to review the massive amount of material we cover, you should reconsider enrolling in this course.

Summer of 2018:

Thanksgiving Break:
1. Read Chapter 20 in the textbook "DNA Technology and Genomics."
2. Complete the Chapter 20 Mastering Biology Assignment by Sunday night of Thanksgiving Break.
3. Complete the virtual lab linked below

As you do the lab, look at the questions in the worksheet on the right hand side (I will use them on the quiz).
4. Be prepared for a quiz on the above material on the day we return from break.

Winter Break:
You will be reading the Ecology Chapters, completing the reading guides below, and preparing for an Ecology test after break.

Spring Break:
An Illustrated Tour of Life on Earth:

For each chapter of each unit, a student who wishes to earn an A and a passing score on the AP exam should do the following.
1. Read the Chapter
2. Complete the online reading assignment for the Chapter on Pearson Mastering Biology
3. Watch the videos linked for the Chapter
4. Come to class and take notes on the Powerpoint for that Chapter
5. Complete all labs, quizzes, and in-class activities, review for and pass the unit exam (10 units total).

We will do Chapter 2, as an example, together in class during the first week of school.

Notebooks should include daily warm-ups and notes on every Power Point we go over in class. Notebook checks will be random and unannounced. Have your notebooks up to date every class period.
